4 Years of Nerdy Bitches

In January 2015, we launched our shiny new podcast with the first four episodes. Now, 4 years and 113 episodes later, we have had so much fun and are excited for the future of Nerdy Bitches! We also hit 4,000 Twitter followers just in time for our 4 year anniversary!

Geek Myths vs. Realities

We found an article from 2015 on the top 4 geek myths versus their realities and wanted to talk about and bust these stereotypes, where we could. The article, “Four Common Geek Stereotypes: Myths and Realities” was found HERE. So, strap in and enjoy!

Myth #4: Geeks are super smart, but have no common sense.

Myth #3: Geeks have no social skills.

Myth #2: Geeks are always unattractive and un-atheletic.

Myth #1: Geek culture is sexist.

Let us know if you agree with our discussion and if you can think of more geek stereotypes for us to discuss!

Episode 103 – Mainstreaming Nerd Culture Across Generations

In this episode, Liz and Heather discuss mainstreaming nerd culture across generations. Has nerdom become more acceptable in mainstream society? Are nerds the new hipsters or exclusive club? Will Liz and Heather ever choose to clean their respective homes if they can get away with it? Tune in to this week’s episode to find out!

Mainstreaming Nerd Culture Across Generations

Heather has returned from her adventures with several comic cons in California and has much to say about them, compared to our experiences with Comicpalooza. Both are looking forward to the upcoming Fandemic Tour in Houston, so hopefully Liz will be able to attend and report.

Liz and Heather debate whether or not NERD has actually gone mainstream, or if it is specific to certain fandoms/genres. They also discuss how this has changed over the generations and some of the potential jumping off points.

We also talk quite a lot about cleaning (or not), and other off-the-rails topics, as usual.

We Heart Houston

Episode 84 – We Heart Houston

In this very special episode, we heart Houston and learn a little about Texas food and the fact that HEATHER IS MOVING AWAY!! Don’t worry, the show WILL go on and will stay awesome. But, before the leaves the great state of Texas, we have to talk about all the things she is going to miss!

We Heart Houston

We Heart Houston

So, Heather finished up her degree back in May, applied for the kickass job of her dreams and got it!! We are so proud of all of her accomplishments! That kickass job will be taking her to California, so while Liz will miss her fiercely, she is getting an incredible opportunity to make her dreams come true!

We took this opportunity to talk all about our home city and the things we love about it – mainly the FOOD! If you have never been to Houston and have a notion of what it is all about, I guarantee you are wrong! So, take a listen to our last in-studio session for a while (she will be back for Comicpalooza in May!) and hopefully no one gets too teary!

Geek Hobbies

We talk about the latest announcements from Doctor Who and Disney’s D23! The 13th Doctor, starting with the 2017 Christmas episode will be played by Jodie Whitaker (Broadchurch) and will be the first woman to play the iconic role. Heather takes on the online trolls who are outraged by this turn of events…of a fictional time-traveling alien.

D23 recently showed some behind-the-scenes footage of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which is opening in December 2017. They also released some amazing posters of the film’s main cast of characters that are absolutely breathtaking. You can watch the clip here:

We also get into the Best Geek and Nerd Hobbies list, as according to a list on compare this list with our own geeky/nerdy interests, along with some rather interesting past times that made their list.
