We are especially looking forward to November and December, as there will be some awesome films released, including Thor: Ragnarok, Justice League, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Jumanji, and Pitch Perfect 3! Fingers crossed that all of these live up to their respective hypes!

2016 Movie Review - Part 1

Episode 51 – 2016 Movie Review Part 1

In this episode, Heather and Liz cover a 2016 Movie Review – Part 1 for our annual episode. Make sure to catch up next week with the second part of the episode. Last year, we did our first year-in-movies review, so we are excited to bring this back as an annual event.

2016 Movie Review Part 1

Movies – Part 1 (January through May)

Listen in as we talk month by month through the first half of the year covering the movies we did see versus the ones we wanted to see.

January

  • The Hateful Eight – Samuel L Jackson at his best. This technically came out in January, though it did have a release date in December.
  • The Witch – how did you like this, horror fans?

February

  • Pride and Prejudice and Zombies – We have a book club coming up on this book in the next few weeks, so we haven’t seen the movie yet. Stay tuned!
  • Zoolander 2
  • DEADPOOL!!! We both just LOVED this freaking movie. We didn’t know what to expect, but it blew all expectations out of the water. So funny and bloody at the same time. SUPER offensive, so stop taking your kids to see these thing! We are thinking of doing a movie commentary on this movie because there is so much to talk about. We apologize for not getting an episode out earlier, but this year has been crazy busy. Well done, MCU! Well done indeed.
  • Zootopia – This movie was really cute! Great messages and fun for both kids and adults.

March

  • 10 Cloverfield Lane – Didn’t see it, but Heather is looking forward to it.
  • Whiskey Tango Foxtrot – A maybe later movie
  • Divergent: Alligient – OMG This totally made us happy that it crapped out and went straight to distribution. We absolutely hated the third useless book of the series when we did our book club episode, so this just gave us a lot of joy. Of course, we still keep on ranting.
  • Batman vs. Superman – We are so tired of talking about this movie. The extended edition was definitely better than the theatrical release. It was really curious why they would cut out these SUPER IMPORTANT plot points in favor of the crap scenes they let in. Wonder Woman is still the best part of this movie. Stop fucking it up, DC.
  • My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 – We didn’t get a chance to see this, but really want to.

April

  • The Boss – We didn’t get around to seeing this. The trailer didn’t do as much for us as Spy or The Heat. We hope it is great, but we haven’t seen it. Probably Netflix later.
  • Hard Core Henry – We aren’t big on the shaky-cam first person stuff. It is nauseating.
  • The Huntsman: Winter’s War – Didn’t see, but are more interested in seeing it now that it doesn’t have Kristen Stewart.
  • The Jungle Book (live action)
  • Keanu

May (Part 1)

  • Captain America: Civil War – WOOOOOO!!! We both really loved this one! We really meant to do an entire movie review on this one, but didn’t get around to it with all of our Comicpalooza daze. Team Cap vs. Team Tony – we aren’t really buying the lineup here.

Catch us next week for the second half of our annual movie review!

Who Wore it Best - Superhero

Episode 48 – Who Wore It Best Superhero Edition

In this episode, Heather and Liz welcome back Carla for a boozylicious Who Wore It Best Superhero Edition of the show! We each made a delicious cocktail and we are going to gab a bit about superhero fashion, among other topics!!

Boozylicious Who Wore It Best – Superhero Edition

The Cocktails

Carla created a drink called The Jitters (after the CC Jitters character in The Flash). It consists of coffee liquor and honey-flavored vodka and can be either a shot or sipped. This one was good, and tasted a bit like a buttery nipple shot.

Liz has recycled a drink from before and renamed it (previously The Smuggler’s Delight) and now the Barry Allen. It consists of Dr. Pepper and Torched Cherry Rum. It doesn’t taste like alcohol, so drinkers beware!! It is quite delightful!

Heather’s drink is served hot and contains coffee, half an ounce of kaluha, plus vanilla vodka – this is Black Widow (aka the hot Russian).

Who Wore It Best

1. Batman – Batfleck, Bale, or Keaton?

2. Wonder Woman – TV vs Movie

3. Luke Cage – Comics vs. Marvel Netflix episode

4. The Flash – TV vs. Movie

5. Quicksilver – Avengers vs. X-Men

We also took a little time to read some Yelp reviews on Houston-area strip clubs, based on the recommendation of our friend Liz Padjen. They are delightful! If you have a little time on a Wednesday night, check out this little corner of the internet you may not have visited. BTW – all chaps are assless. Also, buying dildos in front of friends and their mothers is weird. Just sayin… Wigs are fun. Party with the gays. These are just general suggestions for life. You’re welcome! And we don’t say “tabacky” in Texas. Boots are hard to wear.

Batman v Superman

Episode 38 – Batman v Superman

In this episode, Liz and Heather invite fellow nerdy bitches Ofelia and Eileen back into the studio to discuss Batman v Superman. SPOILERS. SPOILERS. SPOILERS.

Batman v Superman

In our last DC Comics episode, we pretty much called it “DC: Don’t Fuck It Up”, so we are going to work our way through this movie with our girls. First, the movie got pretty terrible reviews, which didn’t really sway us one way or the other because we are going to watch what we want. YOU AREN’T THE BOSS OF ME, CRITICS!!

The general consensus was that they did a good job of pulling from the comics, but may have brought in TOO many elements. It was entertaining, but there were some slow areas and some utter yawns. There is a bit of desperation in this movie. We think that they are trying to Avengers the series without bothering to do the leg work on the back stories.

We all seem to like Batfleck, which had been all of our original concerns, but he did a great job. We were so excited to see Wonder Woman, but she was completely underutilized throughout and just didn’t make any sense. She seemed to be there to keep the whining bitches of Batman and Superman from beating each other to death with their dicks.

We hate Lex Luther. Bad actor and badly performed. Such a colossal pussy. He could have been played a lot more like Tony Stark because Lex is a genius, but in this movie he is just fucking nuts.

Side Note: The new Aquaman is fucking hot. But why is he holding his breath? And why does his trident look like a rake? Is he gardening??

Keep on listening, as we have a lot to say. BECAUSE I’M BATMAN!!!!!

Episode 33 – DC Comics

In this episode, Liz and Heather discuss DC Comics, as a counterpoint to our Marvel episode from 2015. This episode should be called DC – Don’t Fuck it Up.

DC Comics

We talk all about the DC Comics movies, past, present, and current. Heather is a HUGE Batman fan, so she has been waiting to do this episode for a while.

We talk about Deadpool, Batman vs. Superman, and the appearance of Wonder Woman! We also talk about the upcoming Suicide Squad movie that will be coming out later this year.

We talk a bit about the lack of female characters in both the DC and Marvel universes, but we really don’t see a Marvel counterpart to Wonder Woman.

Side note – DC Comics seems to be much darker and gritty and super rapey from time to time (I’m talking to you, Watchmen!). These are dark, but also fairly funny, so we are interested in seeing what comes forth.

Aquaman is also apparently getting his own movie. I’m interested in seeing whether or not he will be the pussy of the Justice League, like in the comics, or if he will actually be an interesting character.

Another side note: You suck, Megan Fox. We hate everything you are in. Always. Eat a cheeseburger, please. And cover yourself, for the love of dog!

DC is really doing great things in the realm of TV shows: Gotham, Supergirl, Arrow, etc. They surpass Marvel, who only has Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, both of which are fabulous.
