Episode 37 – Intro to Anime

In this episode, Liz and Heather welcome some new guests into the studio for an intro to anime! We brought Ofelia (she drew our podcast photos) and Eileen to teach us a little more about why people like anime and what we should look into. Both Ofelia and Eileen have great stories about anime influencing their lives.

Our questions – What the hell is anime and why should we dig it? Their answer: Art!

– What is the difference between anime and manga?

Some that Heather and I watched: Desert Punk, Black Butler, Attack on Titan, Cowboy BeBop… we are still exploring.

Anime seemed to pick up steam in America back in the 90s. There are a lot of great conventions (ACON) for anime.

We love the use of color that is way over the top compared to American animation.

Listen in for the rest of this episode, as our amazing guests have a lot to say about the wonders of anime!

Recommended shows for newbies – There are so many categories to choose from. Do your research to find your favorites. Samauri 7 (historical), Attack on Titan, Honey and Clover, DeathNote (psychological), Full Metal Alchemist (emotional)

Bitch of the Week – Kids who spoil the holiday secrets for other kids. This makes Liz go all aunt-zilla. It’s just mean, and I blame their parents for not making sure they don’t do this. It isn’t right and it isn’t fair to crap all over someone else’s beliefs. This goes for anyone trying to “clue people in” to what is “true.” Fuck you.
