Episode 53 – Book Club: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

In this episode, Liz and Heather welcome Kitty back into the studio for our Book Club: Pride and Prejudice and ZOMBIES!! We read the original Jane Asten classic along with the zombified version to compare the two. It’s a boozylicious episode!

Book Club: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

None of us had read the original before, which is why we went ahead and read both books for this particular book club. We gab for a while about the books we had to read (but probably didn’t) in high school.

Listen in as we discuss our thoughts on the books, the use of language in the books, and the addition of zombies and whether is added anything to the original storyline. In the zombie version, we really enjoyed the fact that Charlotte turns into a zombie and nobody notices. In this book, your main job was zombie hunting, until you got married. Then your hunting days were over.

Also, cousin marriages are gross. And pre-marital blood tests are weird. There were a lot of great comedic moments in both books. We also realize that we probably wouldn’t have been rich in this scenario. We would be servants or merchants, and that pretty well sucks. Also, traveling for days to see your family who are just a few miles away. And Mrs. Bennet is an asshole.

So many more thoughts, but I’m pretty sure no one reads the show notes anyway 😉 This will be the experiment to see who is still reading. In our next episode, we will be talking all about Star Trek – the shows, the movies, and the reboots! Make sure you check back in with us next week!
